I fell like venting so yall are it. Over the past 3 weeks I have experienced the worse pain of my life. It feels like a flaming hot sword has been stuck in my back, down my leg and out my right knee.
Went to my Doctor, Ive had back pain before but not like this. Pain meds did nothing. Went to an ortho doctor. Got an xray, then back again to get an MRI. I have a herniated disc at L3 and L4.
I cant stand up, I cant walk. I can crawl around a little. I have litterally been a prisoner on a recliner with a pee jug at my side.
A shower is an exercise is torture

Christmas was lost, and some of you know what that means to me.
Im on several pain meds including a morphine product and its doing nothing.

So finally on Thursday I got an epidural steroid injection, and it did nothing. My pain moved slightly and maybe decreased by 10% but I still cant function.

Im in pain, frustrated, and depressed. Going to call the Doctor on Monday morning. They have helped in moving things along with my insurance but it still takes to long to get shit done.
I havent worked in 3 weeks and have used up all of my sick time.
Im just feel like Im at the end if my rope. Besides that everything is fucking great.

Therapy works...if it's a strained muscle, it wont likely help when it comes to nerves.

Get rid of the drugs now...

Go get you an inversion table right the fuck now...use it, it will hurt like a mother fucker..but it works, use it for ten minutes for 3 to 4 days.

      The hell if I know.

I have back problems as well, it goes with the career choice I made.

The inversion table worked wonders for me, hanging upside down takes the pressure off and stretches the vertebra back out after a period of time.

You are more than likely to have problems from here on out, so you'll be way ahead to get it and use it when you start to feel discomfort.

@seafoam1 so sorry you're suffering with pain like this. I know it has to be very stressful not knowing when you may get back to work. Being financially stable is always a huge worry. Thankfully you know what the problem is your just waiting on a solution to fix it. These insurance companies can be a real bitch!!! I hope the process speeds up for you. You have all the right in the world to vent your ass off!! Sorry it also had to happen around the holidays. They are special to me too so i can imagine how sad that is for you.

Man I m so sorry to hear it. But you got to endure it. In Russia doctors use in that situations a spinal nerve blockade. it helps even in most terrible pain. And after it they decide what kinda treatment one needs.
    Nerve Block Injections
In a nerve block, a doctor injects the area around the nerve with a numbing medicine, or anesthetic. Lidocaine is the anesthetic most commonly used. After a nerve block injection, you'll quickly have numbness with near-complete pain relief. It wears off after several hours.24 дек. 2018 г.

My spinal cord area was numbed when I got the steroid injection, so for a few hours I felt ok.

Seriously, I wish I could help but nothing but time works for my back pain when it goes out. And it isn't as bad as what you seem to be going through. Living with back pain sucks. You can't do anything.
I hope you can get help.

@Anniemated sorry you are in such pain and not able to walk. I guess we always think we have it bad until we hear others stories. Someone always has it alot worse than we do. You seem to have alot of strength and you at least try to stay positive. To be honest it would be so hard not to be angry!! Just bitter and mad at the whole world. But that only makes matters worse for you or anyone in your situation. I just wanted to show you some sympathy even if your not asking for it or wanting it.

Thanks but let's be quite clear here, I'm no angel. I rant and rave and cry my eyes out every day. I'm in a Catch 22 situation because it hurts to walk I don't try enough and because I don't push myself to walk it makes my legs worse. I suppose I am my own worse enemy, like now I am holding off taking the Morphine so I can take it later when the family is here and I'm bloody hurting because of it! I've been sleeping to escape .... but now I will rouse myself, be sexy and sassy and downright rude ......... and nobody will ever know shhhhhhhhh!!

I never take my back problems, which I have had for many years, to an MD. I suggest you see a good chiropractor and take your medical diagnosis and copies of your X-rays with you, if you have them.

Been there, done that, l4-5 same pain. You need a laminectomy , sorry for the spelling.
A good ortho pod can fix that easily. When I woke up, leg pain was gone, no limping.

Is that what it's called when they fuse the vertebrae?
I was told that's the only help for me when I aggravate it.
Not gonna happen...back surgery is a no-go with me.

@seafoam1 I feel ya. Mine has been screwed up ( not as bad as yours) for the last 4 years and all because of my knees.
I've been using Texas Ranger ( my walker) to get around and since the knees were screwed up its messed up my hip and back. I pop pills only when I go to bed to ease it enough to fall asleep but the pain is constant.
Hopefully this next surgery will fix it all so good luck with it because back pain is the worst.

Several years ago, I was carrying firewood and tore a muscle in my back. It was like I got shot, and I just screamed and fell to the ground. It took hours to crawl to the porch and inside, it was so painful. When I went to the hospital, the doctor asked me what it felt like, and when I told them, she said: "yep, you tore a muscle in your back, everyone says it's like getting shot".

    Update.
I talked to my Doctor monday morning and was told that I have to wait 2 weeks because it may take that long for the shot to work.
Funny how it went from possible immediate relief, to 3 days and now to 2 weeks for it to work, if it does at all.
Told him I was agony so now I have full strength oxycodone , hydromorphone, diclofenac and gabapentin. At this point Im probably on the DEA watch list.

Had Physical therapy today and my therapist said she can see a slight improvement in my range of motion and I was able to walk into the building today, even if I was very hunched over and limping.
The meds do help me sleep now, so while yall ring in the new year tonight, Im gonna freebase some pain meds and sleep on the recliner.

Funny fact. I read the warning label for my meds and the warning for one of them was
"Do not crush and snort this medication, death may result" WTF?

Just a little ease to the pain goes a long way. People would tell me, all pills do is cover the pain they don't heal you...Well no shit Sherlock, but if it was them with the pain they wouldn't be saying that, they be saying, gimme the damn drugs.

@seafoam1 I feel for you my friend. Two years ago I was laid up for seven months with back pain. I actually ruined my mattress, and made a big indentation on my side of the bed, from lying there day after day.

I finally got approval for an MRI and was found to have a few degenerative disc. The pain ran from just above my ass check down my leg. I have never felt pain like that in my life, and I have a high tolerance for pain.

I got a prescription for perks from my doctor, a six pack and a couple of those I felt like I was back in the 80's. They didn't help the pain, they just got me high. I didn't like the feeling and stopped the pill treatment.

I went for therapy and had a steroid injection at the base of my spine. The injection helped a little, but not good enough. So I went for another injection, you can only get three injections during the year. After having the second shot and continuing therapy I was back to myself.

I found that losing some weight, stretching out, and continuing some back exercises has kept me pain free.

I wish you all the best and hope 2020 will be pain free, and much more

My sister was in a wheelchair till she had laser surgery.. Now she's walking again. Heard something about a RFID pain blocker they implant in your neck. But I don't know much about it. Just my 2 cents if you haven't had it fixed yet.
