Disciplinary action taken against EMPD illegal strike
An investigation has been launched to identify those involved in the illegal strike to expedite the consequence management process.

The Mayoral Committee (MayCo) delegation of the City of Ekurhuleni, consisting of the MMC for Finance, Ald Jongizizwe Dlabathi, MMC for Community Safety, Ald Sizakele Masuku, and MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Ald Sivuyile Ngodwana, met with representatives of disgruntled Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officers on March 20.
The engagement, which included participation from the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) as labour representatives and the South African Police Service (SAPS) in an observer capacity, provided a platform for open dialogue and constructive discussion regarding the officers’ concerns.
